(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhu E, a practitioner from Jilin City, Jilin Province was sent to the Miyun Prison in November 1999 because she appealed for Falun Gong in Beijing.
Seeing Ms. Zhu practice the exercises in the prison, a few male prison guards rushed over, held her down on the floor, and put handcuffs and shackles on her. The handcuffs and shackles weighed over 20 kg (approximately 45 lbs.) and were thick with rust. Ms. Zhu's hands were handcuffed behind her back and her shoes were removed. The guards forced her to walk continuously in the prison yard, which was full of stones, wearing only socks on her feet. When she slowed down, a big guard kicked her in the back. Ms. Zhu fell to her knees and it took her a long time to get up again. Five hours later, when she could not walk any more, two guards dragged her by the arms and started to run in the yard. Ms. Zhu's feet scraped the ground and soon her socks were worn out and her heels were torn. The handcuffs and shackles cut deeply into Ms. Zhu's wrists and ankles, and even when Ms. Zhu was badly mutilated, the guards did not remove them.
Ms. Zhu was then made to sit on a small bench and deprived of sleep. She was not able to eat or go to bathroom. Her menstrual period came and there were no sanitary napkins available for her. She suffered this way for six days.
Later, Ms. Zhu was sent to the Jilin Detention Center. Her wounds were infected and the bones of her heels were exposed. It was extremely painful, like being stabbed with a knife continuously. She could not walk normally even six months later, and even now the scars remain on her heels.
