Around February 25, 2008, the police in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province and the 610 Office illegally arrested many Falun Gong practitioners, ransacked their homes and confiscated their property. Ms. Liu Fengmei, Mr. Huang Cheng, Ms. Li Xiuyun, Ms. Pei Yufeng, and Ms. Guo Liguang were arrested once again and illegally imprisoned.
In July 2007, Ms. Liu Wenjuan was enrolled in the 3rd Middle School of Jian'ou. Local authorities tried to force her to give up practicing Falun Gong, but Ms. Liu Wenjuan refused their unreasonable request. She was then expelled from the school and forced into homelessness.
Mr. Li Jianqiang is imprisoned at a brainwashing center. On April 2, 2008, Mr. Li's older brother and wife hurried over to Jinan City when they heard the news of his imprisonment, but the police forced them to exert pressure on him in an attempt to force him to renounce Falun Gong.
On February 20, 2008, Mr. Bai Shaohua and Mr. Yang Hui were detained by the police with the exuse of conducting "a security check" in advance of the Beijing Olympic Games; they were interrogated by torture for having Falun Gong materials in their vehicle. From February 20 to 25, 2008, the police hung Mr. Bai by handcuffs and beat him day and nights, and then sentenced him to one year of forced labor. Mr. Yang Hui was sentenced to two and half years.
On March 16, 2008, Mr. Gu Qun was detained at the Yaojia Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and the guards responded by brutally force-feeding him. This left him severely injured. He died on April 8, 2008..
Mr. Chen Baofeng, 43, died on March 3, 2008 at Wujiawa Detention Center. His family found evidence of torture when allowed to view his body, but officials claimed, "It was an accident." Family members are concerned about other practitioners arrested at the same time as Mr. Chen who are still detained.
Mr Wang was detained on January 31, 2008. Since then he has been subjected to beatings and force feeding and is now in very weak condition.
