(Clearwisdom.net) Chicago Falun Gong practitioners hold activities in Chinatown every weekend, raising awareness about Falun Gong and exposing the brutal persecution in China to the public. On July 30, a local festival was held in Chinatown. Despite the heat, many people attended the event. Many stopped to learn more about Falun Gong. Some Chinese people at the event quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after learning about the movement in China to withdraw from the CCP as a way of condemning its atrocities.

Ali, from Iran, noted as he stopped at the practitioners' display, “I felt so peaceful as I was passing by you.” He was appalled when he learned that such a peaceful group has been brutally persecuted for 12 years in China. He asked the practitioners to teach him the exercises right away and planned to read more about the practice from Falun Gong websites.
Many Chinese people also stopped to take materials, including a group of high school students who were visiting from China. One Chinese gentleman told practitioners that he came across a Falun Gong event in New York, where he obtained informational materials and quit the Party.
A 15-year-old Chinese boy stopped to view the display boards and was shocked by what he saw. Practitioners told him that everything he learned about Falun Gong in China was propaganda by the Communist Party. He talked to practitioners for a long time and agreed to quit the Communist Youth League. He also asked for a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.
