(Minghui.org) The author of the article, “Zhao Ziyang and His Wife’s Predestined Relation with Falun Dafa,” was a good friend of Mr. Zhao Ziyang’s wife, Liang Baiqi (who passed away recently). Zhao Ziyang was the former Chinese premier and General Secretary of the Communist Party who resigned after the Tiananmen Square massacre. The author described what happened one day when she visited the couple.
“I studied Falun Dafa's teachings with Ms. Liang. Mr. Zhao sat in the room and talked with us occasionally. He said, ‘Your Teacher said…’ Surprised, I asked him how he knew what Teacher said. He told me, ‘I’ve read Zhuan Falun.’ I asked how he remembered what the book said so clearly, and he told me, ‘I remember everything I read.’ Happily I said, ‘Everything in the book is exactly true. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance not only benefits one physically, but can also achieve a harmonious and stable society.’ I then asked him to practice with us. He told me that he would consider it. Not long after that, he began practicing the exercises with us. I told them that it was hard for me to reach tranquility when meditating. He told me, 'I don’t think about anything when I meditate.'”
Why was he able to remember everything he read? It might be hard for people to believe that anyone could really remember everything they read. This article helps us to look at the issue from a different perspective. Some people might not be impressed by what Mr. Zhao said, “I don’t think about anything when I meditate,” but I believe the sentence reveals Mr. Zhao’s high level. Most people are unable to reach tranquility when they meditate because they cannot control their own minds. Falun Dafa teaches people to eliminate pursuits and purify our minds, thus after practicing for a while, one is able to reach tranquility.
A young practitioner shared his experience in the article, “ The Cultivation Journey of a Young Practitioner: I'm Very Fortunate to Begin Practicing Again ,”
“As I kept practicing the exercises, my brain became more and more clear and I could memorize things very quickly. Once, my language teacher gave us some time to memorize two ancient articles in class. Others were struggling to memorize while I looked at it calmly and attentively twice. Then I started to do my math homework. I thought I'd finish my homework in school and study the Fa that night.
Supernormal Abilities and Wisdom Manifested
My language teacher was not pleased when she saw that I was doing math homework and made me stand up. She said, ‘I told you to memorize the articles. Have you done so?’ I said that I had already memorized them. The teacher didn't believe me and made me recite a bit of it. I started to recite the first paragraph and when I was finishing it, she said that wasn't the paragraph that she wanted.
So, I recited the second paragraph and when I almost finished reciting, the teacher again deliberately said that it wasn't the paragraph. Thus, I recited the third paragraph. When the teacher saw that I had memorized the beginning of the piece she thought that I might not be able to remember the last paragraph, so she said, ‘Recite the last paragraph.’
I was able to also recite the last paragraph and the entire class applauded and cheered. The teacher said, ‘You are good. You have my permission to do your math homework.’”
Articles written in classical Chinese are difficult to understand, let alone memorize, but the young man was able to memorize both articles after reading them only twice. As he continued cultivating in Dafa, his special abilities were even more strengthened.
He said, “The schoolwork became very heavy when it was almost time for high school examinations, but studying became easier for me. At the same time, some supernormal abilities that helped my studies appeared and I was able to finish my homework faster and had time to study the Fa.
After watching a TV program about kids who could memorize things quickly, my father asked me how I could memorize things so fast. I told him that those children were smart, but I am different because I have wisdom and supernormal abilities after studying Falun Dafa. It is like the proverb, ‘Viewing the monument on horseback’ -- A man memorized the verse on a monument after he passed by it one time on horseback. That man had supernormal abilities which enabled him to memorize things he saw or heard just once, because the content was imprinted in his mind. When he recited the content on the monument, he simply retrieved the image from his memory and repeated what he saw.
Clean and Pure Mind
Only those whose minds are very clean and pure can fully utilize their abilities. Dad finally understood me. He did not believe in the proverb before, but now he knows that it’s true that some people are indeed able to memorize things quickly. He then added that I must have lots of potential.
What this young man said can actually help explain why Mr. Zhao could memorize everything he read. The reason Mr. Zhao could reach tranquility when he meditated shows us that his mind was pure.
