(Minghui.org) Authorities in Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, sentenced 10 practitioners to prison in recent months. Two of them were given 13-year terms.
The Yanhu District Court tried and sentenced six practitioners. Among them, Ji Fenghua and Li Chenglong were sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The Yuanqu County Court issued the verdict for Zhang Xiufang, 68, An Xiaorun, 58, and Wei Yindi, 65, on December 5, 2013. They were sentenced to 5 years, 4.5 years, and 3.5 years of imprisonment, respectively. The three practitioners have appealed.
The Linyi County Court held a trial against Wang Shimin on May 3, 2013, and sentenced him to a 6-year prison term.
Long Prison Terms
Practitioners Ji Fenghua, from Yuanqu County, and Li Chenglong, from Wenxi County, have been held at the Yanhu District Detention Center since March 31, 2011. They were sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment by the Yanhu District Court at the end of June or early July 2013.
Both practitioners appealed to the Yuncheng City Intermediate Court. However, the court upheld the conviction on November 12, 2013.
Ms. Ji was sent to the Yuci Women's Prison on November 15. Li Chenglong's current whereabouts are unknown.
Authorities Interfere with Due Process
Per the orders of the Yuanqu Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office, the Yuanqu Detention Center staff prevented detained practitioner An Xiaorun from meeting with two defense lawyers.
The 610 Office agents and police also told Mr. Wei and his family that he would be released if he renounced Falun Gong.
Illegal Arrest
Officers from the Beixin Police Station in Linyi County, Yuncheng City, claimed that they would return Mr. Wang Shimin's computer, confiscated in June, on the night of November 6, 2012. Instead, they illegally arrested him once he arrived at the police station.
The Linyi County Court sentenced him to 6 years in prison on May 3, 2013.
Mr. Wang appealed to the Yuncheng City Intermediate Court. However, without notifying his family or holding a public hearing, the court upheld the conviction.
Mr. Wang was sent to the Jinzhong Prison on September 17, 2013.
Previously, he was falsely accused and sentenced to a 3-year prison term in 2004. He was released from Jinzhong Prison in 2006.
