(Minghui.org) Two women from the city of Tongliao were scheduled to stand trial on October 27 following their recent arrest in July and August. It remains to be investigated whether Keerqin District Court held the hearing as scheduled, and if so, what the verdict was.
Ms. Wang Ying (王颖) and Ms. Tian Xin (田心) had been repeatedly arrested and detained since the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong, a self-cultivation practice based on the core principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
With their most recent charges accepted by the court, the two practitioners may face prison terms.
Elementary School Teacher Fired and Repeatedly Detained
Ms. Wang has been on hunger strike since she was arrested on July 26 while visiting another Falun Gong practitioner. Guards at Hexi Detention Center not only force-fed her every day, but also subjected her to various forms of torture. They once twisted her hands behind her back and restrained them against a wooden board. With her feet shackled at the same time, she was rendered unable to lie down and could only remain in a sitting position.
Once an elementary school teacher, 40-year-old Ms. Wang lost her job after the persecution of Falun Gong began. She was arrested a total of seven times before this most recent ordeal. In addition to a three-year term at a labor camp, she was also detained at a local brainwashing center. During each detention, she suffered brutal torture, including electric shocks and savage beatings.
Imprisonment of Ms. Tian's Family Members
Ms. Tian was arrested on August 16, leaving her teenage son alone at home. Just two weeks earlier, her younger brother Tian Shuangjiang was arrested and now remains in custody at Kailu Detention Center.
Ms. Tian's father Tian Fujin died at age 59 as a result of torture carried out at Baoanzhao Prison on December 14, 2009. Her mother Liu Xiurong was sent to labor camps twice and is now serving a four-year term at Hohhot Women's Prison.
Ms. Tian's three siblings have also been sentenced before for practicing Falun Gong. Her oldest sister Tian Fang was sentenced twice to a total of nine years in prison. Her youngest sister Tian Miao was sentenced to six years, and her brother Tian Shuangjiang received a three-year sentence.
Ms. Tian herself was sent to labor camps twice, just like her mother. They were kept in the same cell five times during their imprisonment.
