(Minghui.org) Mr. You Jiahua (尤家华) heard a knock at his door and saw a police officer he knew. As soon as he opened the door, seven plainclothes officers rushed in. Two officers twisted his arms so hard that he fell to the floor and struggled to breathe. When he refused to be taken into custody, officers dragged him out of his apartment, ripping off his shirt in the process.
Mr. You, a 73-year-old retired engineer, was arrested on December 2 for practicing Falun Gong. Such arbitrary arrests and detentions are commonplace in China amid the Communist regime's fifteen-year persecution of the spiritual discipline.
Without a warrant, officers ransacked his home and seized a laptop computer, Falun Gong books, four mobile phones, an MP3 player, and an unspecified amount of cash.
His wife, Ms. Sun Shui'e (孙水娥), was also taken to Hushuguan District Police Station, where the couple was interrogated separately.
Mr. You told police that he benefited from practicing Falun Gong and that he broke no law by telling others about his experience. He added that he did nothing wrong by following the Falun Gong principles, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
An officer told him to sign a document about “undermining law enforcement.” Mr. You said, “I was in my own home. You broke into my private home. You committed a crime, and you are the ones undermining law enforcement. I am not signing this paper.”
In the other room, Ms. Sun remained silent throughout the interrogation.
The two seniors were released the same night.
