(Minghui.org) On January 27, 2014, Mr. Zhang Jinku's wife and daughter went to Hulan Prison to try to get Mr. Zhang released. The person in charge said that he could not go home unless he was a vegetable and couldn't care for himself. His wife fainted.
The next day, his wife and daughter went to the prison administrative bureau and were told that Mr. Zhang was not qualified to be released on medical parole. The officials tried to expel the two of them, and the wife fainted again.
When Mr. Zhang's sister visited him in prison on February 17, someone had to carry him out he was so weak and he could barely talk. Prison authorities continue to refuse to release him for medical care.
He is now in the Hulan prison hospital.
What Happened to Mr. Zhang
Mr. Zhang, once very strong and healthy, was his family's sole support. He was arrested on July 17, 2013, because he practices Falun Gong and was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. Within just six months, he had contracted tuberculosis, was incoherent, had a swollen face, and was barely able to walk or talk.
Mr. Zhang's family tried to visit him in prison 12 times over four months, but they were only allowed to see him four times. His physical condition had worsened each time they saw him, but he was still beaten and deprived of sleep.
During one visit, he told his wife that he was very sleepy and that someone in a white robe had beaten him. Wang Xiaochen, an agent with the 610 Office in Hulan Prison, aborted the visit immediately.
Ms. Zhang's wife saw him for the second time on January 9, 2014, and was very worried about his deteriorated health. In the afternoon on January 26, 2014, she and their daughter went to the Prison Administrative Bureau in Heilongjiang Province and talked to someone in the Penalty Execution Division. The person told them that Mr. Zhang should be released for medical treatment.
The next day, Mr. Zhang's wife and daughter went to the Hulan Prison's Penalty Execution Division. The person in charge refused to release him, saying that he could not go home until he couldn't care for himself. His wife fainted due to the extreme pressure.
That afternoon, the prison authorities approved a visit by his wife and daughter. His daughter didn't recognize him. He couldn't walk and his face was swollen. He couldn't recognize his wife and daughter and could barely talk. His daughter said that she heard him saying “I want to live...I want to go home...” repeatedly.
Wang Xiaochen from the Education Reform Division (in charge of forcing Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief) said that Mr. Zhang's face was not swollen and that he had just gained weight. Therefore, they refused to release him.
A repeat visit on January 28 met with the same results. His sister's visit on February 17 was the most recent.
Mr. Zhang Jinku is a Falun Gong practitioner from Boli County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. He was transferred from Jiamusi Prison to Hulan Prison on September 30, 2013, and his health has continued to deteriorate as a result of torture.
