(Minghui.org) A critical condition notice has been issued to the family of Mr. Han Haiming, 67, currently under urgent treatment at the Taiyuan Hospital in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. Even so, prison guards at the Jinzhong Prison, where Mr. Han has been detained since 2002, will not process the family's medical parole request. They are determined to hold him “as long as he has his last breath.”
Mr. Han was diagnosed with left brain cerebral hemorrhaging on the night of April 4, 2014. He has not fully regained consciousness. He cannot speak and often moans in pain. His left hand often trembles uncontrollably, and makes grabbing motions. The left side of his head shows skin falling off in large chunks, as well as bleeding. Other parts of his head show scars, consistent with those resulting from beatings. His right arm and leg appear to be immobile.
According to the doctor, the success rate of surgery for Mr. Han is about 20%. Mr. Han is likely to be disabled even if he survives the operation.
Mr. Han's wife didn't want to take the risk and requested to take him home for recovery. However, the prison guards immediately responded, “Absolutely not.” They claimed: “As long as he still has his last breath, he will not go home.” They also declined to process the family's medical parole request.
On April 2 and 3, Mr. Han's family visited the Jinzhong Prison, but weren't able to see him. The prison guards didn't provide any justification for denying visitation.
Mr. Han from Wenshui County, Shanxi Province had tuberculosis, pleurisy, cirrhosis and other major chronic diseases before practicing Falun Gong. These illnesses disappeared shortly after he took up the practice. He had not been ill for over 10 years since then. Now he shows severe symptom of cerebral hemorrhage, and prison guards at the Jinzhong Prison claim that they had nothing to do with it, despite signs of physical abuse on his body.
Mr. Han was arrested on April 7, 2011 by the Qi County police. He was sentenced by the Wenshui County Court for 3.5 years in 2012 and transferred to the Jinzhong Prison in Qi County on April 10, 2012.
