I'm a Lucky Man
My wife and I are both college graduates and technical personnel. My wife began to practice Falun Dafa in 1998. I've never practiced, but I have read some of the Falun Gong books. I know that it teaches people to cultivate their hearts and be a good person, and I have seen how my wife and other practitioners conduct themselves. They even return money to a vendor if they are given more than they were due. When encountering conflicts, they look for their shortcomings and think of others first. They do not seek fame and profit, and let things take their natural course. They are tolerant of their family members and are easy going. Because my sister's family was not doing well financially, my wife gave our newlywed house to them.
Many of my friends give all the earnings to their wives to manage, but my wife does not ask me do to this. Since my mother does not have any income, I often give her money, and my wife is very supportive of that. Unlike some families, my mother and my wife get along very well. Therefore, my friends envy me and think that I'm extremely lucky.
We had a warm and harmonious family life after my wife started practicing Falun Dafa.
Encountering Tribulations
In July 1999, Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began an all out persecution against Falun Dafa. There were television broadcasts slandering the practice day and night. I wanted to smash the television when I saw the false accusations and the propaganda. I felt helpless under the powerful Communist regime.
My wife reacted quickly and bought a computer and printer. She began to print truth clarification materials about Falun Dafa and distributed them to others.
My wife and her family are practitioners. My mother-in-law was illegally arrested for distributing truth clarification materials. Consequently, police ransacked her house and mine. My wife had to leave and live elsewhere to avoid further persecution. My happy family life was thus destroyed by Jiang Zemin and the CCP.
I had to work and take care of my two-year-old son. I had insomnia because of the stress, and hoped that my wife could return home soon.
I watched a television show one night about a brave man fighting against drug trafficking, while his lover waited for his safe return. I thought the show described my inner feelings. I was waiting for my lovely wife to return. She was a brave warrior, and was peacefully resisting the evil specters. Tears rolled down my face. I believed that one day practitioners would win the battle against the bad elements, and I looked forward to my wife's victorious return.
I waited five years. The first four years were somewhat bearable. Although we were apart, I learned that my wife found a technical job with decent pay at a private company. However, she was arrested and taken to a forced labor camp in the fifth year. I was under so much pressure and could hardly breathe.
Although we lived in the same city, I was not able to see her. She was imprisoned and had to endure brutal torture. My heart was torn apart thinking about her suffering. There are countless family members like myself who have had to endure hardships under this brutal persecution.
People who conduct themselves according to the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' are innocent. I think that everyone should have the freedom to believe, and that the news reports should be truthful. This should be the basic standard of a normal society, but it is impossible in today's China.
People Awaken Upon Hearing the Truth
I thought about ways to help my wife get released and return home early. My wife had once told me that the persecution will cease once the world understands Falun Dafa. So I burned a truth clarification DVD onto my computer at work. I sat in the corner in a large open office, and many colleagues would come by and watch the videos about Falun Dafa.
Some of them would drop by my desk and ask me if I had new videos. Others saw the Chinese characters “Good Deeds are Rewarded While Evil Deeds Meet with Evil” on my screen saver and agreed with it. One person who read booklets about Dafa said: “Falun Dafa is truly extraordinary. One can tell from the poem written on the cover that it is not written by your average person.”
Many of my colleagues know what has happened to my family. They sympathize with me and say that the CCP is a rogue party.
Buddha Light Shines Everywhere
Interesting things have also happened during my five years of waiting. During the time when my wife lived at another place, I had hemorrhoids and went to the hospital. The doctor said it had to be removed surgically. My wife visited me at the hospital, and saw patients there who were in pain after their surgery. She chatted with them and the nurses, and told them about the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident. She said the television had misinformed the public, and that slandering Falun Dafa was not a wise thing to do. When I shared my understandings with them, some agreed with me, while several others didn't. The next day, the doctor gave me the good news: “This is very strange! The hemorrhoids are gone!”
This was truly miraculous! It is indeed true that the Buddha light shines everywhere and Heaven bestows blessings to those who have good thoughts about Dafa!
Some people thought that I was a divorcee, since they've only seen me with my son. Many of them wanted to introduce me to women who were seeking a companion. A female colleague also showed interest in me. Although I'm not a practitioner, I understand the basic principles of Falun Dafa. I realize that I should be a moral person and be responsible to my family. I know that I should stay put and wait for my wife to return home.
The Source of My Happiness
The end of my tribulation finally arrived when my wife was able to leave the forced labor camp, after being on hunger strike for several months. We were finally reunited in early 2006.
My wife was very weak when she came home, but she recuperated quickly after practicing the exercises. She found a new job, and the manager knew he could trust her when he found out she was a Dafa practitioner. I think practitioners are smart and learn things very quickly. It seems that the gods help them with everything. My wife specializes in the technical field and gets paid quite well in her new job.
Our financial situation also improved quickly. We now own a house, a car and live a comfortable life. Our son conducts himself according to the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' and is doing very well in school. His teacher says that he is full of positive energy.
My wife not only excels at her work, she is also a great cook and guides our son with his studies. I transferred to another department at work and received a pay raise. I feel very fortunate.
I know that people with virtue will eventually gain blessings. Believing and supporting the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' will bring us happiness.
Bo Xilai and Li Dongsheng were high ranking CCP officials who persecuted practitioners and harvested their organs for profit. They are now indicted and in prison.
Although there has been many natural disasters and social unrest in China, I feel very safe because my wife is a practitioner and I believe in the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance'. A few days after the 2014 Chinese New Year, I was driving back home from work and stopped at a traffic light. An electric bike ran the red light and smashed into my car. When I got out to check my car, the other driver quickly drove away. There was only a mark on my car and I was fine.
A few days later, my sister texted me: “Are you OK? Our brother who lives overseas called me and asked me if you and your car are OK? I've been feeling a bit uneasy these days, as if something bad has happened.” I was somewhat afraid after reading her message, and thought: “Perhaps the accident was bound to happen, but because I believe in the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance', and treat others with kindness, Teacher Li saved me from this calamity. Maybe I could have lost my life.”
Dafa has protected our family. On 2014 World Falun Dafa Day, I'd like to thank Dafa for giving me everything! I also hope that people learn about Falun Dafa and live a peaceful and blissful life.
