(Minghui.org) When the arrest of several Falun Gong practitioners and four lawyers in Jianjiang was exposed in the international media, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) became even more irrational and ordered the arrest of more practitioners.
Five practitioners, including Mr. Chen Hongrui, took a car to Hulin City on March 27, 2014. When they passed through the Kaixiang District in Mishan City, they were stopped and searched by police. The police told them, “Anyone who wants to go Jiansan has to be searched.”
Their car was searched. The police arrested the practitioners and took them to the Beidaying Police Station. Domestic Security Team head Yu Haiying and officer Li Gang questioned the five and forced them to write a guarantee that they would not leave town. They were released after 7 p.m.
Around 8 p.m. on April 2, officer Yang Liguo ordered three people to break into Mr. Chen Hongrui's home. They searched every room, even the yard and the storage room, but they did not find anything that they could use as evidence against Mr. Chen.
At 9 p.m., Yang Liguo and the other three left. Mr. Chen went to the home of his son, Dr. Chen Guoqing. He saw many cars parked there. About twenty people searched Dr. Chen's home. Those people included Domestic Security officer Yu Haiying and Beidaying Police Station officers Wei Yucheng, Yang Liguo and Wang Yanhui.
They took away Dr. Chen's personal belongings, arrested him and placed him in handcuffs.
Mr. Chen Hongrui asked at several law enforcement agencies where his son had been taken. 610 Office head Liu Li said after several days: Chen Yuoqing has been detained in the Beishan Detention Center.
The 610 Office ordered two police cars to park near Mr. Chen's home. Five to six police officers monitored him both day and night. They changed cars after several days. They kept two people monitoring Mr. Chen every day.
On April 29, the police tried to force Mr. Chen to sign the detention paper.
The time on the paper was 16:30 on April 3, 2014, which was twenty hours before the actual time of arrest. The document only had the police officer's common seal but no name.
At the beginning of May, the paper was returned to the police. Dr. Chen's family asked that he be released. The police refused and that they said they needed more evidence.
Dr. Chen Guoqing started a hunger strike on May 14 to protest his illegal detention.
Persecuted Frequently
Dr. Chen Guoqing has already endured fifteen years of persecution. After the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong, Dr. Chen was fired from his job at a hospital, where the hospital administration was in collusion with the police. CCP personnel arrested and persecuted Dr. Chen and his family members for a long time.
The First Time Dr. Chen Was Arrested
In 1999, Dr. Chen went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was arrested in Tiananmen Square and detained in a basement. The police took away his money and only left him about ten yuan.
When Dang Jianhua, head of the Beidaying Police Station, picked him up, he even took away Dr. Chen's ten yuan. He was released after being held for two weeks.
Arrested a Second Time
Dr. Chen was section head of the Nongken Administration Hospital, and his wife Han Yuqin was chief nurse at the hospital.
During the New Year of 2000, the head of the hospital asked the couple to come to his office and ordered them to give up practicing Falun Gong. They refused. The hospital security staff sent them to the Nongken Administration Detention Center.
When the couple did not return home, his father went to the hospital to ask about his son and daughter-in-law. He was arrested and sent to a detention center for twenty-seven days.
Dr. Chen's mother and his young child were left at home alone. The child kept crying and asking for her dad, mom and grandpa. Dr. Chen's mother went to the detention center and asked to visit them. The officers struck her with a steel bar, causing her to fall and hit her head against the wall.
Dr. Chen was detained for around five months. They planned to send him to a labor camp but failed. The police asked the hospital security officers to pick him up, but the officers refused. Under pressure from Dr. Chen's family members, he was finally released.
Just three days after he was released, the hospital ordered Dr. Chen to write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong, or he would be sent to a labor camp. Dr. Chen had to become homeless in order to avoid the constant harassment and threat of arrest.
Arrested for the Third Time
Seven days later, the police tricked Dr. Chen's mother and told her: “Ask him to come back. As long as he doesn't go to Beijing, we won't arrest him.” Dr. Chen came home. The second afternoon, two officers arrived at Dr. Chen's home and told him that the hospital leaders needed to talk to him. Dr. Chen was taken to the Nongken Administration Detention Center.
Dr. Chen's daughter could not get into the house because no one was at home. She waited outside. When it began turning dark, a kind neighbor took her to her grandparents' home.
Mr. Chen Hongrui went to the appeals office to ask that Dr. Chen Guoqing be released. While he was waiting for the officer, he was reported and accused of appealing for Falun Gong. He was detained for five days.
Dr. Chen Guoqing was detained for over two months.
The total of those three detentions is over eight months. Neither Dr. Chen nor his relatives were shown any legal documents. He was extorted for over two thousand yuan.
Forced Labor for One and a Half Years
The hospital administration used Dr. Chen's forced absence as an excuse. They ordered a meeting but the outcome was already decided: to fire Dr. Chen and his wife Han Yuqing. They said that they had legal precedent to make such a decision.
At the end of 2000, in an attempt to avoid further persecution, Dr. Chen left home and went out of town.
During the 2001 New Year, Dr. Chen was detained in the Beijing Detention Center.
He was electrically shocked by several guards. One month later, he was sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp.
Forced Labor
In the labor camp, Dr. Chen was forced to produce chopsticks. Even though they were produced under filthy conditions, they were labeled “sanitized” and wrapped with plastic wrap.
It was very difficult to even get clean drinking water in the labor camp. Detainees seldom washed their hands, and everyone's hands were very dirty during the chopstick processing.
They also had to work on pirated books and make wool sweaters.
Guards opened the letters mailed to practitioners from their family members. They often destroyed them at will, and the practitioners would never receive them.
Dr. Chen's Wife Passed Away
Ms. Han Yuqin was detained with Dr. Chen in 2000 in the Nongken Detention Center. After one month, she was released, but when she returned to work, the hospital administration reduced her salary and title.
On July 9, 610 Office head Kong Lifeng ordered Domestic Security officer Meng Qingqi and officers from the Beidaying Police Station to arrest Ms. Han and detain her in the Mishan Detention Center for two weeks. Later, she was transferred to the Nongken Detention Center for another two weeks. They tried to send her to a labor camp but the labor camp refused to take her.
The hospital fired Ms. Han from her job. She was also extorted for over one thousand yuan.
At the beginning of November, police from Mishan City searched her home. They did not find anything to use as evidence against her.
One afternoon, Ms. Han came back from shopping and found that the police were monitoring her home. She was arrested and later transferred to the Mishan Detention Center for seventeen days. Under her parents' pressure, she was released.
Dr. Chen and his wife lost their jobs. In order to support their family, they did labor with very low income. Under such long term heavy work, Ms. Han Yuqin passed away.
Dr. Chen's Mother Passed Away
During the new year of 2000, Mr. Chen Hongrui, who was seventy-eight years old, and his son and his daughter-in-law were all detained in detention centers. Dr. Chen's mother Chen Guizhi went there to pay for their food. When the cashier asked her if she practiced Falun Gong, she said: “Yes!” She was threatened that she would be arrested.
Mrs. Chen was very frightened. When she returned home, she was often harassed and threatened by the police. She became depressed and sick for five years. Eventually, she passed away under the constant pressure and threats.
Dr. Chen Benefited a Great Deal from Falun Gong after He Began Practicing
Dr. Chen started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. His health became very good. After his wife saw the positive changes in him, she started to practice as well.
Dr. Chen did his job responsibly. He never accepted any gifts or money from patients. He managed the hospital's medical supplies. He was responsible for the quality of the medicine and refused any medicine that was below standard. He did his best to reduce the cost of medicine, and saved the hospital a lot of money.
