(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Qiusheng and Mr. Yin Yucai were tried on May 21, 2014, in Duchang County Court, after four months in detention.
The defense lawyer asked the court to excuse judge Cao Kaizhen, however, Cao refused to leave. As a compromise, the chief judge excused himself for 30 minutes.
During the defense lawyer’s speech, everyone in the court listened quietly.
Before the hearing, the chief judge asked the lawyer, “Do you want anyone to leave during the hearing?” The lawyer said, “I ask that judge Cao Kaizhen leave, because he interfered with my defense last time.”
The chief judge left the room for 30 minutes.
The lawyer told Cao Kaizhen, “If you don’t leave, I will.” But Cao Kaizhen stayed.
Mr. Liu Qiusheng defended himself. When he said practicing Falun Gong does not violate any laws, Cao Kaizhen interrupted, saying, “You are not allowed to defend Falun Gong.”
The Domestic Security police froze Mr. Liu’s bank accounts and all his personal property. Despite the facts, judge Cao Kaizhen accused Mr. Liu of possessing a computer. In reality, Mr. Liu only has a company assigned computer for business. The judge’s accusation was based on false evidence provided by Wang Bo, head of the 610 Office, and Hong Liu, head of the Domestic Security Division.
During the hearing, several 610 Office members were on site to monitor, along with several police officers. These people all used a rear door instead of the front gate.
The lawyer provided a powerful defense during the two-hour hearing, demanding his clients be released as innocent men. The court did not announce a verdict.
At this time, both Mr. Liu Qiusheng and Mr. Yin Yucai are still being held in Changdu Detention Center.
Family Threatened
The practitioners were arrested when they were handing out Falun Gong informational flyers on the morning of January 13, 2014. Police used violence to torture them during the interrogation.

The practitioners’ families went to Changdu Domestic Security Division on February 10 to demand their release. Mr. Yin Yucai’s brother said, “My brother Yucai is 85 - how can you refuse to release him?” Hong Liu said, “We'd keep him jailed even if he was 95.”
Mr. Liu’s older brother confronted police head Hong Liu, and asked him why his people hurt Mr. Liu Qiusheng so badly. Hong Liu defended their tactics with twisted logic. The two carried out a heated exchange, while many police officers watched.
A family member could not contain his anger at Hong Liu: “You are so nasty to a fellow citizen. You are not behaving right; your conduct is way out of character for someone in your position.”
Furious, Hong Liu shouted, “Let me see your ID! I can tell you are a Falun Gong practitioner! I'll arrest you if you don’t shut up!”
Pther family members continued to protest. Hong Liu threatened them: “You dare to keep complaining? With one sentence, I could have all of you arrested.”
Hong Liu and officer Zhan Yuanpeng were very rude. They kept saying that the practitioners deserved jail sentences. In the past when family members went to the Xufu Police Station to appeal for their loved ones, the officers had also refused to take responsibility for what they had done and behaved rudely.
