(Minghui.org) Officials at Guta District Court illegally tried Mr. Wang Lin on July 9, 2014, after almost nine months in detention. His wife was not allowed to attend the trial. She was stopped outside of the courthouse by a group of plainclothes police. Judge Pan Lili stated that the decision was made by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee and Police Department because Mr. Wang's wife is also a Falun Gong practitioner.
Mr. Wang was brought into the court room with a black hood over his head. He was also handcuffed and in shackles. He told the court that he was innocent and that it is not illegal to practice Falun Gong. His lawyer pleaded “not guilty” on his behalf and presented a strong case. The trial lasted two and a half hours, with no verdict being announced.
Brutally Tortured in Detention
Mr. Wang was out distributing truth clarification materials on the evening of October 18, 2013. He was arrested by the Jingye police in Guta, Jinzhou City. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, printer and other personal belongings. During his detention, he was forced to make handicrafts meant for the export market. He was also repeatedly shocked with electric batons and tied up for 40 days, unable to move or go to the restroom.
On August 8, 2004, Mr. Wang was taken to the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp, where he was brutally tortured.
