(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Germany and Holland visited three cities in Saxony in Eastern Germany's Upper Lusatia region from October 16-19, 2015, to introduce Falun Gong and raise awareness about the persecution of the practice in China.
The cities they visited were Bautzen (Budyšin), Gorlitz (Zhorjelc), and Cottbus (Chóśebuz).
Many of the residents there were interested in learning about the human rights situation in China and the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They signed a petition to call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party's forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience, the majority of whom are Falun Gong practitioners.
After hearing about how difficult practitioners' lives have been over the past 16 years of persecution and how they suffer for their belief, many residents supported the lawsuits being filed against former dictator Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.
A young pediatrician said that she had heard about Falun Gong when she was in China on an internship. When she searched the Internet for information on Falun Gong while she was there, her computer suddenly crashed. She realized how difficult it is to access information about the practice in China and how severe the persecution is.
Cottbus (Chóśebuz) is a cultural centre for the Lower Sorbian minority. Cottbus is also home to the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) and the math/science-oriented Max-Steenbeck-Gymnasium, which is named after the physicist Max Steenbeck. Students come from all over the world to study at BTU, and many of them were interested in learning about the human rights situation in China.
Two nurses who signed the petition asked for flyers to give to colleagues and also to post in the hospital where they work.
