(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Juhong, 46, is a farmer from Wangwu Village of Guiyang City. She has been arrested and detained multiple times for handing out Falun Gong informational materials.
Ms. Zhang was arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials on July 24, 2016 in Guiyang City. Her arrest was not approved until October 28, 2016.
While she was held in a brainwashing center for 81 days, her family did not know her whereabouts. She is now being held in the Guiyang City No. 1 Detention Center. Her case was submitted to Huaxi District Procuratorate.
Ms. Zhang's parents asked officers at the Sanjiang Police Station where she was being held. The police replied, “We don't know.” Her parents found out in September that she was held in the Lannigou Brainwashing Center. The family went to the brainwashing center to visit her several times but visitation was denied.
The police notified Ms. Zhang's family on October 14 that she had been transferred to the Guiyang No.1 Detention Center and that her detention was indefinite. Ms. Zhang's mother went to the Sanjiang Police Station on October 18 where officers asked her to sign Ms. Zhang's detention certificate.
Her mother refused to sign the certificate because it did not include the staff's signature, the seal on the perforation or the address of the detention center. She also said that her daughter was innocent and her detention was illegal. When she asked why the certificate was not signed, she was told that both the case handler and the head of the police station did not want to sign the certificate.
Prior Detention
Ms. Zhang was held in the Xiaohe Drug Rehab Center for 10 days in April 2014. Then she was held in a brainwashing center for three months. Following her detention, police and staff of the village committee harassed her.
She was again arrested in November 2014. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. She was taken to the police station and released that night.
