(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dong Weixin was arrested and detained for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator who initiated and directed the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.

Mishandled During Arrest

Many security personnel, including Yitong County Police and Security Division Captain Liu Jianpeng, deputy captains, and a handful of police officers, broke into Mr. Dong's home on December 15, 2015. Without showing any identification or providing an explanation, they pushed Mr. Dong down and handcuffed him.

They ransacked his house and confiscated three computers, a dozen cassettes, ten thumb drives, Falun Gong books, and some calenders with Falun Gong content.

Mr. Dong told them that they should not follow the directives of Jiang and persecute good people. They just ignored him.

Deputy Captain Hu Baoming hit Mr. Dong in his face and mouth. Other officers forced him into a police car, while he shouted, “Falun Gong is good!”

Suing Jiang Is a Legal Right

At the police department, Deputy Chief Han Jinsong interrogated Mr. Dong.

“I did not do anything illegal. There is no Chinese law that says practicing Falun Gong is illegal,” said Mr. Dong.

“Who do you think you are?” said Han. “You think you can overthrow the Communist Party?”

They took him to the interrogation room, where they showed him his criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, which he had mailed to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court. They asked him if he had written them. Mr. Dong acknowledged it was true, but reminded them that suing Jiang is the legal right of all Chinese citizens.

They later took him to the detention center in Yitong County.

Mr. Dong's brother demanded that the detention center release him, given that he is a single parent of a mentally challenged child. The detention center agreed to release Mr. Dong if his brother could provide proof of his son's disability from the hospital.

The Siping Psychiatric Hospital provided Mr. Dong's brother with documentation proving the diagnosis. Captain Liu then approved Mr. Dong's release.

Hu Baoming reversed course, however, and demanded affidavits from Mr. Dong's neighbors. When these were presented, he demanded an affidavit from Mr. Dong's former wife. When it was obtained, he still refused to release Mr. Dong until he had been detained for 10 days.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other members of the Politburo Standing Committee and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Communist regime established an extralegal security organization, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows its citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
