(Minghui.org) I started learning Falun Dafa cultivation in 1997. Since that time, many people have told me, “Falun Dafa has really helped you change your personality for the better.”
I am the youngest among my eight siblings, so growing up, I was spoiled by my whole family. As a result, I developed a domineering and pushy character. Very self-centered, I never considered the feelings of others and I put my own personal interests above everyone else.
My father taught me to cut hair when I was young, and years later, I opened a hair salon as a way to make a living. Looking to make more money, I often overcharged my customers.
Once I began to cultivate in Falun Dafa, however, I learned to be good and kind to everyone, regardless of social standing. My moral character improved and I became considerate of others. Through Falun Dafa cultivation, I came to realize that I shouldn't charge extra money from my customers. To do so is immoral and violates the principles of Dafa.
Now I always charge my customers the standard rate for my services. Still, I sometimes give elderly people or people with financial difficulties a discount. If someone forgets to bring money or forgets to pay, I don’t even give it a thought. And yet, since practicing Falun Dafa, my income has improved even though I charge less. What's more, if I move my shop to a new location, my old customers still follow me.
I have changed so much since practicing Dafa! As a result of my improvement, many people have learned that Falun Dafa is good. I tell people that Dafa has spread around the world, that only the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) defames and persecutes Dafa, and that it even goes so far as to harvest live organs from healthy Dafa practitioners for huge profits.
Making Peace with My Sister
Shortly after I started cultivation, I shared with my third sister some secrets I had kept for too long. “Sister, if I didn’t cultivate Falun Dafa, I would never tell you this,” I said. “Do you remember a few years ago when we went shopping in the city and stayed in a hotel for the night? While you were in the bathroom, I stole 100 yuan from you. I wanted revenge on you because when we ran a hair salon together, you took the tuition and 100 eggs that my apprentice paid me. I had been looking for a way to get back at you and take back my money.”
I cried as I talked to her. “Now I know better. Through practicing Dafa I now know that my wish for revenge was wrong. According to Dafa’s principles, I am returning the 100 yuan that I took from you that night. From now on, I will always conduct myself according to Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
My sincere change of heart moved my sister to tears. She said, “I was not right either. I should not have taken the money or other things that didn't belong to me.”
I felt so relieved at our conversation. In the past I had fought for fame and profit, even with my sisters. But now that I cultivate Dafa, I feel very peaceful in my heart. I take fame and profit lightly, try to think of others first, and get along with others very well.
Not Taking Advantage
In the summer of 1998, my five-year-old son came home from preschool and was playing outside by himself. It was starting to get dark out, and I had just finished a haircut for a customer when I heard people yelling from outside.
I stepped out to see what was happening and saw my son crawling out from under a van. A lot of people had already gathered around. Someone said, “Quick, see if he’s hurt?” Another said, “So scary! Hurry up and take him to the hospital.” But I looked at my son and told the driver of the van, “It’s OK. He’s fine. You can leave.” As such, my son only had a small bump on his head and nothing else. And the bump went down in short time, and the next morning he went to school as usual.
After that, people came to my shop with endless questions about the accident. One person who knew the story gave me the thumbs up. “ You are so good,” she said. “Except for Falun Dafa practitioners, anyone else would have made the driver pay at least 1,000 yuan before letting him go.”
“How could I do that? The driver didn’t do it on purpose!” I said. “According to Dafa, it’s not right to ask him for money.”
Through this incident, many people came to realize the goodness and wonders of Falun Dafa.
