(Minghui.org) Mr. Shao Minggang was arrested on March 4, 2016 for practicing Falun Gong. His blood pressure became dangerously high while he was held in police custody. He was taken to the Jinzhou City Detention Center, but they refused to accept him at first because of his high blood pressure.
Despite his life-threatening condition, local police sent him back to the detention center, forced his admission and urged the Linghe District Court to try him as soon as possible. The trial date was scheduled on March 6, 2016. It is unknown if he has been tried.
Previously Persecuted Three Times
1. Badly Beaten in the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp (2000)
Mr. Shao's persecution started right after Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator, began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999. After he went to Beijing to appeal to the Central Government on behalf of this spiritual practice, he was fired from his workplace and taken to the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp in August 2000, where he was severely beaten.
2. Three Years of Forced Labor (2004-2007)
He was arrested by the Jinzhou City State Security Bureau in the spring of 2004. After his arrest, police used lighters to burn his lower jaw. Li Xiejiang, an agent from the 610 Office, then beat him. His face was disfigured as a result.
After Mr. Shao was taken to a forced labor camp, he went on a hunger strike. Guards forced him to sit on a stool in grueling positions for long periods of time. They also force-fed him. During the force-feeding, former deputy director Li Fenglin ordered guards to use a large quantity of saline solution for the force-feeding. Many guards participated in the torture.
Guards and inmates attempted to “transform” Mr. Shao, day and night. The prolonged torture and persecution caused his blood pressure to shoot up again, and he had to be moved to the infirmary. He was held in the forced labor camp until May of 2007.
3. High Blood Pressure Due to Abuse in Detention Center (2014)
Officers from the Jinzhou City Police Department and four 610 Offices collaborated to arrest Mr. Shao and several other Falun Gong practitioners in November 2014.
Mr. Shao’s blood pressure again reached dangerous levels, and they refused to take him. The police then extorted 5,000 yuan from him and he was released. However, they did not stop harassing him after his release, and he left home to avoid further persecution.
The 2016 arrest was Mr. Shao's fourth arrest in the series of relentless abuses he has suffered for over a decade.
