(Minghui.org) The Bayan County Police Department refused to release a local man on medical parole, despite his doctor's warning that he may go into shock at any time.
Mr. Gao Fuzhi was arrested on November 9, 2017 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The local police had been harassing him in the months leading up to his arrest, and they kept threatening his wife after taking him into custody.
The 61-year-old man developed cerebrovascular disease and cholecystitis while in detention and was rushed to Bayan County People's Hospital on April 6, 2018.
Mr. Gao has been unable to eat or drink by himself since his hospitalization. His doctor inserted a tube to his stomach to feed him and warned that he may go into shock at any time.
Mr. Gao's wife asked that he be released on medical parole, but her request was rejected by Yu Haiyan, head of the local domestic security office. Yu claimed that Mr. Gao must first reveal information about other local Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Gao is currently being held in an isolated room in the hospital. There are officers taking turns watching him around the clock, and they have never once removed his shackles.
