“I hold that there’s no such thing as “natural phenomena,” as all things are ordered—coincidence doesn’t exist.” (Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Europe, May 30 & 31 1998, in Frankfurt, Germany)
The first time I heard this, I felt I understood the meaning. However, when I was put into the real situation, I realized I didn’t understand it very well.
Master said:
“Let each and every thing be measured against the Fa. Only then, with that, is it actually cultivation.” (“Solid cultivation” in Hong Yin, Version A, English Translation)
I thought that it was impossible for me to do as Master taught, so whatever I encountered was regarded as coincidental.
Visiting a Practitioner Experiencing Sickness Karma
Last year I went to the home of a fellow cultivator, Shaohua. She was in a state of sickness karma and her xinxing level was not up to the standard. I heard that she was receiving intravenous fluids on a daily basis.
I wanted to pay her a visit but I had some reservations. Her mother-in-law is quite a fierce person and she opposes Dafa. My family members were also of the same mind. I was afraid to let them know that I planned to visit Shaohua.
Of course, it would be easier to deal with my family because I could go and visit while they were not around. However, I could not speculate the situation regarding Shaohua’s family. Her mother-in-law might be there. Would the doctor be busy with her fluid infusion? Would other guests be visiting also? I was afraid of bumping into people. I became confused about when to go to see her after all these considerations.
I unconsciously regarded the situations that might occur with Shaohua’s family as something coincidental and unpredictable. I didn’t think about Master being around and that Master would make arrangements. The more I thought about all of this, the more I became clueless and I began to develop a headache.
Suddenly my thought changed. Isn’t this a big attachment? I need to get rid of the attachment to fear. What is there to fear about making this visit to another practitioner? In the past, I could even go to Beijing. How could this small thing propose to stop me? I will go! Even if her mother-in-law was next to her; or the doctor was busy doing the infusion - I am going there to see my fellow cultivator and it is righteous and noble!
I went to Shaohua’s house after breakfast. There were a lot of people outside of her home. They were all friends from the village. I still had to move forward through the crowd of people. Just when I moved toward the gate, suddenly everybody went to see something on the street and nobody noticed me. So I entered Shaohua’s home.
Her mother-in-law was in the courtyard. When she saw me, her face was gloomy and full of doubts. I said to her: “ What’s wrong? Don’t you recognize me?” Shaohua appeared after hearing voices and invited me into her room.” She was expecting my visit. So I entered the room.
There was no infusion today, so no doctors were about, only fellow cultivators. I didn’t expect her mother to be there and what a coincidence as she is also a fellow cultivator. We then went into deep sharing and discussions. We solved a few problems and we all felt happy.
Master said,
“We have said that good or bad comes from a person’s initial thought, and the thought at that moment can bring about different consequences.” (Zhuan Falun Lecture Four)
When our xinxing reaches its correct position then Master arranges everything well for us. If you think that something is coincidental then the human notion is taking charge. If one does not abandon this notion then similar problems will keep occurring.
Distributing Informational Materials in a Community
A few days ago I went to a community to distribute truth-clarification materials. The security guard in that area always asks questions and likes to be in control. I was a bit scared.
I was thinking about what I would do if the guard stopped me and I didn’t know what to say to him. Suddenly one thought appeared. Didn’t I have Master’s arrangement? I am doing this to validate the Fa and assimilate to the Fa. Master would arrange things well for me. Why did I only think about the obstacles? I shouldn’t care that much. Master will have his arrangement for me when I arrive at the gate.
When I cycled past the security gate, the guard started shouting loudly, “Who are you?” He was speaking to me as if I were a thief and he was very rude. I thought such speech and action should not be aimed at a person who validates Dafa. Therefore I would not allow him to shout at me and of course, there were other people passing the gate also. So I didn’t even respond and walked into the community area without turning my head. I was sending righteous thoughts in the meantime. I passed out the materials successfully.
Reclaiming Confiscated Dafa Books from Police
My cultivation status was not too good over the past couple of days and I was a bit confused. I took Tuesday as Monday by mistake and delayed accomplishing one thing.
I was planning to claim the Dafa books back from the police department because a few days ago police came to a fellow cultivator’s home to make trouble and they confiscated the Dafa books. I let so many days pass, as I was reluctant to go and take care of this.
However, now my status was not good and if I went to claim the books, won’t it cause trouble for me? I treated it as something coincidental again!
One thought came up: No it will not cause me trouble as I have Master to look after me. This is an act of validating the Fa. Do I dare not finish this simply because I was not in the best state? The time was quite urgent and I can delay no more! I have Master to look after me. If I think too much then it will be the human notion that prevails. If I wanted to claim the books back then I should just go ahead.
Master is right beside me. Master said:
“The bigger you perceive the challenges to be, the harder things will be to carry out, since “the appearance stems from the mind.” And so the task will become increasingly burdensome. ” (“Fa Teaching Given at the Epoch Times Meeting” 2009, from Teaching the Fa at the Conference X)
I entered the police department and met a young police officer on duty. He didn’t know the facts about Falun Gong and he was surprised to know that I wanted to claim the books back. He asked me if I still practiced. He even said I needed to be arrested and it was beyond the issue of confiscating the books.
I then clarified the truth to him. I also talked to him about a recently published document issued by the China Administration of Press and Publication. I told him he could search it on the internet and he then became quiet.
Later, I went to meet a policeman that I was familiar with and clarified the truth to him. The policeman who was in charge of the book, however, was off duty. Therefore, I had to make another trip to the station. In the end, I was able to have another opportunity to clarify the truth while at the police station and did not run into any trouble.
“Coincidental” does not exist for cultivators. It is an ordinary people’s notion to consider things as coincidental. A cultivator’s path is arranged by Master and Master is right beside us. He makes arrangements based on our thoughts. If our heart is righteous then things will go smoothly.
Master said,
“When disciples have ample righteous thoughts, Master has the power to turn back the tide.” ( “The Master-Disciple Bond” from Hong Yin Vol. II)
If one’s heart deviates from the Fa, then troubles can occur.
Master said,
“Neither heaven nor earth can block my road of Fa-rectification, But disciples’ human hearts can.” (“Trouble” from Hong Yin III)
Cultivators of Falun Dafa need to check their thoughts to see the degree of trust in the Fa and Master that is present.
