(Minghui.org) A recent bout of sickness karma helped me realize my attachments to my cellphone and sentiment toward my family members. I had slacked off in cultivation, and the sickness karma was a serious wake up call.
I realized that something was wrong with my eyes one day in April 2018 when I couldn’t see myself clearly in the bathroom mirror, and everything looked blurry.
I went outside to the courtyard, where my son told me that his little daughter had just defecated on the ground. I picked up my granddaughter to carry her inside. My son reminded me to not step on the excrement, but I still did because I couldn't see it.
My vision became blurrier. I put my granddaughter down inside the house, cleaned up, and sat down to send forth righteous thoughts. I continued to send righteous thoughts for a couple of hours, until around 6:00 p.m.
My eyes were very painful. My husband looked at me, and said it looked like I had pink eye. My son also asked if they were infected. I replied to both of them, “Don't worry. I'll be fine after doing the Falun Dafa exercises.”
Three to four hours later, my eyes worsened. It felt like there was sand rolling inside them. The pain was excruciating.
Master said,
“In our discipline we cultivate both types of bodies and they’re both required—your innate body has to be transformed, too.” (Zhuan Falun)
I said to Master, “I want to cultivate my body, too.”
Once this thought emerged, my mind calmed down and the pain lessened. I lay down and fell asleep until the next morning when the alarm woke me up when it was time to send righteous thoughts.
My eyes were a little red and swollen, but my vision was back to normal. After studying the Fa for the whole day, the redness and swelling had almost disappeared.
Under Master’s protection, the interference was eliminated. Master helped me to overcome my tribulation.
I looked inward and found that I was attached to being on my cellphone, spending a lot of time searching for different recipes to cook for my family. I also spent the whole day taking care of my grandchild and did not leave time to study the Fa. The sickness karma was a profound lesson for me.
As a practitioner, it is dangerous to be obsessed with everyday life. I hope my experience is a warning for others. We should walk the correct path of cultivation, meet Master's expectations, and hurry up to save people. I would like to kindly remind elderly practitioners not to let family chores interfere with their cultivation.
