(Minghui.org) A Sheyang County man remains in critical condition after being beaten for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Tang Xueyong has been repeatedly arrested for his faith since the persecution began in July 1999. He served 2 years and 3 months in a forced labor camp and was twice imprisoned between 1999 and 2005.
His latest arrest took place on June 28, 2014, and he was sentenced to 8 years and 10 months in 2016 without a court hearing as required by law. Judge Zhang Wei of Sheyang County Court was responsible for his illegal sentencing.
Mr. Tang held firm to his faith while serving time at Hongzehu Prison. On April 19, 2018, inmate Wang Shi was ordered by guards to put Mr. Tang in a choke hold. Mr. Tang wasn't able to talk or swallow for a long time afterwards.
Mr. Tang still refused to renounce Falun Gong. The guards then ordered inmate Han Chong to stick his fingers into Mr. Tang's eyes on May 31. Mr. Tang suffered retina detachment and bleeding in his right eye as a result.
The guards went after Mr. Tang a third time on June 7. They ordered inmate Xue Ming to hit Mr. Tang in the head repeatedly. Mr. Tang had already had 11 of his teeth knocked out after being brutally beaten at Sheyang County Detention Center. With this new round of beatings, the rest of his teeth all became loose.
Mr. Tang was sent to the prison hospital afterwards. He remains in critical condition at the time of writing.
