(Minghui.org) There was an article recently published on the Minghui website that pointed out a problem among New York practitioners. The author observed that some practitioners wore clothes with the words “Falun Dafa is Good” or “Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance” when attending Dafa activities, but they failed to behave properly and did not observe good social etiquette. As a result, they failed to play a positive role in promoting Dafa; and worse still, they may have created barriers to block people from being saved. The article suggests that practitioners changed into casual clothes after Dafa activities.
I feel that we need to consider the issue from a cultivation point of view. It must not be treated in a perfunctory manner.
Are we wearing Dafa clothes simply for attending Dafa activities, for taking photos or for the unity of our activities? What is the purpose for our activities? Are we clear in our minds why we are wearing Dafa clothes when we put them on? What does it mean by us wearing Dafa clothes? Do we truly feel the sacredness in wearing these clothes? If we truly understand the meaning and the significance of wearing Dafa clothes and participate in the activities with righteous thoughts and act with strict self-discipline, then there would not be any issue of practitioners being impolite and behaving contrary to general social etiquette.
When attending Dafa activities, have we thought about the message we would like to pass to the general public? What does it mean for them? What should we do to better help people receive our message so that they can be saved? Or do we just think “Hey I have attended one more Dafa activity”? Don’t forget that matter and mind are one thing, and if we do not have a clear understanding about our activities and fail to harmonize what is required in the true sense, then what role can we play in the activities? More seriously, if we have caused barriers that prevent people from being saved due to our own behavior, how can we possibly bear the loss?
Cultivation is a serious matter. Whenever problems arise, we must cultivate and look within to dig out the root cause of the problems so that we can rectify ourselves through solid cultivation. We cannot solve the problem by simply changing into casual clothes after our activities. We must not make allowances for such uncivilized manner and behavior simply by changing into casual wear.
As Dafa disciples, we must hold ourselves accountable. When we first started practicing cultivation in Dafa, we would “at least be a good person”. (Zhuan Falun). Then, shouldn’t we conform to and observe societal norms? We must abandon those bad behaviors. When we see a problem, we must seize the opportunity to cultivate solidly and improve. Solid cultivation is the key point.
