(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Qingxia, 75, was followed and arrested by police officers for talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of August 10, 2018. They ransacked her house and confiscated personal items.
At the detention center, Ms. Li developed high blood pressure, high fever, and developed pain in her leg that made it very difficult to walk. Officials at the detention center were reluctant to admit her because of her age and health condition.
Her daughter submitted Ms. Li's medical records that showed she had been diagnosed with uterine cancer, and told the officers they would be held responsible should something happen to her mother.
She asked the officers to release her mother, but officials from the Yushu City Police Department, the Procuratorate, as well as the prosecutor, refused to release Ms. Li. The Procuratorate approved Ms. Li's arrest on August 24, 2018.
Ms. Li has been illegally detained for close to one month.
Ms. Li Qingxia, from Yushu City, Jilin Province, is a retired civil servant. She began practicing Falun Gong in June 1999. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution one month later. She gave up the practice under strong pressure.
She was diagnosed with late stage cancer in 2002 and underwent chemotherapy. The treatment did not work, and she almost lost her life. She resumed the practice of Falun Gong in 2003, and recovered her health. Falun Gong gave her a second life.
