(Minghui.org) Mr. Song Guoli, a 64 year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Baiyin City, Gansu Province was sentenced to 50 months in prison and fined 8000 yuan in February 2019.
To celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, practitioners in Jingyuan County displayed posters leading up to May 13, 2016. The posters illustrated facts such as “Falun Dafa is practiced all over the world,” and “Jiang Zemin has been sued by 200,000 Chinese citizens.”
Domestic security officers retaliated by arresting practitioners Zhang Bingwu and Liu Sicai. They suspected that Mr. Song had also participated in this and tried to arrest him.
Mr. Song was forced to stay away from home. The police issued an APB and offered 10,000 yuan for his arrest. Agents from the 610 Office climbed over the fence and broke into his home on numerous occasions. Mr. Song's family lived in fear.
Mr. Zhang Bingwu was tortured to death in prison on January 26, 2017. Mr. Liu Sicai was sentenced to four and half years in June 2017. Mr. Song was arrested on a bus by officers from the Jingyuan County 610 Office on May 2, 2018. He was taken to the Jingyuan County Detention Center.
Mr. Song was tried by the Baiyin Court on October 4, 2018. He pleaded not guilty and described how his health improved and other benefits of practicing Dafa to the court. The proceedings went smoothly and there was hearsay circulating that he was going to be released in a month or two.
The court, however, sentenced him to four years and two months in prison and fined him 8000 yuan on February 2, 2019. He was taken to the Dashaping Prison in Gansu Province on February 18.
It is also noted that in November 2018, three of Mr. Song's relatives were also sentenced to one year prison terms, which were to be served outside of prison.
