(Minghui.org) Ms. Dong Shuyan is in critical condition from holding a hunger strike to protest arbitrary detention for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a mind and body improvement system persecuted in China since 1999.
Ms. Dong, a resident of Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on June 21, 2019 after being monitored by the police for months.
When her attorney visited her on July 18, 2019 at Mudanjiang Detention Center, Ms. Dong was carried out by two staff members as she was very weak. She explained to her attorney why she practices Falun Gong and what persecution she has suffered over the years.
At the time of writing, Ms. Dong is being held at a police hospital, where she is still subjected to mistreatment for upholding her faith. Her family's request to have her released has been rejected.
Because of practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Dong has been arrested 6 times and detained multiple times from 2000 to 2018. She has suffered unspeakable torture during her periods of detention.
