(Minghui.org) A Mengzi County, Yunnan Province, resident was scheduled to stand trial for her faith in Falun Gong on July 22, 2020, in Jianshui Court.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. He Lianchun was arrested on September 27, 2019, while visiting Ms. Wang Huizhen, who had been arrested the day before for reading Falun Gong books together with several others, but then released due to her medical condition and still monitored by the police.
After the police found Falun Gong related files in Ms. He’s cellphone, they submitted her case to the procuratorate, which later indicted her and forwarded her case to the court.
Ms. He’s latest arrest was preceded by two prison terms for her faith. She was given 7 years in 2001 and released 1.5 years ahead of time. She was sentenced to 10 years in 2009 and had just been released from her ten-year term in 2019 when she was seized.
Ms. He was subjected to many kinds of torture during her 15 years of incarceration, including being forced to sit on a small stool for extended periods of time, denied restroom use, put in solitary confinement, as well as given hundreds of force-feeding sessions that caused severe damage to her mouth, nose, teeth, and stomach. She was in critical condition twice because of the force-feedings.
Meanwhile, Ms. He’s younger sister, Ms. He Lichun, is serving a seven-year term for her shared faith in Falun Gong. The authorities at Yunnan No. 2 Women’s Prison have denied Ms. He Lichun family visits since January 2020 because of her refusing to renounce her faith.
The sisters’ mother passed away in 2017 in agony, while both of them were still in prison.
