(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in seven provinces, where at least 38 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Wu Weiming to be Tried in Court
Mr. Wu Weiming from Hefei City is due to be tried in the Third Court of Shushan District Court on the morning of July 21, 2020.
He was arrested on September 20, 2019, and has been detained ever since.
2. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Shuyi Held in Detention Center, His Son Being Monitored
Mr. Chen Shuyi from Laishui County is being held in the Laishui Detention Center. He has been formally arrested.
His son, Mr. Chen Shuai is on the Laishui Police Department's wanted list. Several officers stationed near his home are monitoring him.
3. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhu Surong Facing Third Court Hearing
Ms. Zhu Surong from Li County is due to be tried for the third time via video-link by the Gaoyang District Court on the afternoon of July 6, 2020.
She was arrested on October 11, 2019, and is being held in the Baoding City Detention Center.
4. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners' Cases Passed to Court
Ms. Meng Zhaoxia, Ms. Song Zhimin, Ms. Liu Shuqin, and Ms. Li Chunmei from Xinbin County were arrested on September 18, 2019, for mailing letters about Falun Gong. They are being held in the Chaibei Detention Center in Benxi City. Their cases have been submitted to the Huanren County Court.
5. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yu Fangzhang Arrested and Released the Same Day, Ms. Liu Hexiang Detained
Ms. Yu Fangzhang, in her 80s, from Nanchang City was arrested by twelve officers from the Xihu District Criminal Brigade and the Domestic Security Division on July 1, 2020. The officers ransacked her home, confiscated over 20 Falun Gong books, 130 brochures, a picture of Falun Gong's founder, an exercise music player, and other belongings.
Ms. Liu Hexiang was visiting Ms. Yu at the time and was also arrested. Police later ransacked her home, confiscated three printers, a computer, printing materials, Falun Gong books, and other belongings.
Ms. Yu and Ms. Liu were interrogated for 12 hours in the Kuaizixiang Police Station. Ms. Yu was released after 8 p.m. Ms. Liu was taken to Nanchang City First Detention Center.
6. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Pan Chengying and Ms. Chen Heying Sentenced
Ms. Pan Chengying and Ms. Chen Heying from Nanjing City were arrested in June 2019. The Yuhua District Court sentenced them both in late May 2020.
Ms. Pan was given a two-year prison term and fined 20,000 yuan. She has appealed.Ms. Chen was given a one-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan. She has been released.
7. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Liu Zhiqiu, Mr. Yin Mingfu, Mr. Wang Dele, and Ms. Wang Shuping were harassed at home on May 12 and June 13, 2020, by officers from the Dayao Police Station and agents from the Dayao Stress Office. The officers and agents tore up any items which had information about Falun Gong on them. They seized Falun Gong books, and tried to coerce the practitioners into signing a guarantee statement to renounce the practice.
Ms. Lin Guiying from Xixia City was called to the local government offices by the village Party secretary on the morning of June 14 when she was working in the field. Officers from the Xixia Police Department interrogated her. They threatened to ruin her children and grandchildren's future if she continued to practice Falun Gong, and to sentence her to prison if she was caught distributing Falun Gong fliers again.
8. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Guiying Arrested and Released the Same Day, Ms. Liu Cheng’e Harassed
Guojiafang Village official Guo Yanzhen and officials from the Huai’an County Political and Legal Affairs Committee went to Ms. Li Guiying's home and arrested her on June 19, 2020. They confiscated over 60 Falun Gong books, two notebook computers, and other belongings. They videotaped the whole process. Ms. Li was taken to the county police department for interrogation. She refused to cooperate and was released after 10 p.m.
The same people broke into Ms. Liu Cheng’e's home the same day. They tried to force her to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong, but she refused.
9. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Yuhuan and Ms. Fu Guixiang Arrested
Ms. Zhou Yuhuan and Ms. Fu Guixing from Liaocheng City were recorded on surveillance cameras distributing Falun Gong fliers on June 27, 2020. They were arrested at home the next day by twelve officers from the Liaocheng Domestic Security Division, the Development Zone Comprehensive Management Office, and the Dongcheng Police Station. The officers confiscated their Falun Gong books and materials. Ms. Zhou's and Ms. Fu's whereabouts are unknown.
10. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Guojun Pension Withheld
Ms. Sun Guojun, 74, from Qingyuan County went to the post office to get her pension in late June, 2020. They refused to give it to her, and told her that anyone who had been sentenced would be deprived of their pension entitlements.
Ms. Sun was arrested in 2016 and sentenced to ten months in prison.
11. [Shanghai] Ms. Lin Qiupeng's Detention Exceeds Legal Limit
Ms. Lin Qiupeng, 75, from Shanghai was arrested on May 29, 2020. She has been held a month longer than the legal time limit.
12. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Wang Detained, His Wife Arrested and Released
Mr. Zhang Wang and his wife from Jinan City were arrested at their vehicle repair shop by the Qihe County police on June 30, 2020. Their car was impounded. His wife was later released, while Mr. Zhang is still being detained.
13. [Chongqing] Ms. Han Weifang and Mr. Wang Daiqing Arrested
Ms. Han Weifang and Mr. Wang Daiqing from Chongqing were arrested at home by officers from the Shangshui County Domestic Security Division in Henan Province on the morning of July 1, 2020. Their homes were ransacked. They were taken to Henan the next day.
14. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Zideng and Ms. Guo Xiulan Harassed
Mr. Wang Zideng from Jinan City received a threatening phone call from the Huayuan Police Station on June 30, 2020. An officer demanded that he and his wife, Ms. Guo Xiulan, go to the police station and sign a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. The couple refused.
15. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ding Zhongsheng Arrested and Released
Mr. Ding Zhongsheng was arrested at home by officers from the Linyuan Fourth Center Police Station on June 26, 2020. The officers ransacked the place, and confiscated Falun Gong books and DVDs. Mr. Ding was taken to the police station. The officers photographed him, took his fingerprints, and signature. He was later released.
16. [Zhuolu County, Hebei Province] Ms. Guo Jianhong Harassed Repeatedly
Ms. Guo Jianhong has been repeatedly harassed by the police. Liu Meicheng and other officers from the Zhuolu County Domestic Security broke into her home on June 29, took photos, and confiscated two Falun Gong exercise music players. Ms. Guo was not home at the time.
The officers returned on June 30 and demanded to know if she was still practicing Falun Gong.
17. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Shouhui and Mr. Zhao Zijun to Be Tried in Court
Ms. Liu Shouhui and Mr. Zhao Zijun from Zhangjiakou City were notified on July 3, 2020, of their trial date. They are due to be tried by the Qiaoxi Court on the morning of July 10.
18. [Xiong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Bohui's Case Filed in Court
Ms. Liu Bohui from Xiong County was arrested by officers from the Bazhou City Domestic Security Division. She has been held in the Bazhou Detention Center for over a year. The Bazhou Procuratorate filed charges against her to the Bazhou Court's Criminal Court.
19. [Beijing] Ms. Yue Xiuhua and Ms. Zhao Junfeng Harassed
Officers from the Yuyang Police Station knocked on the doors of Ms. Yue Xiuhua and Ms. Zhao Junfeng's homes on July 2, 2020. But neither of them opened the door. The officers then called their family members and demanded that Ms. Yue and Ms. Zhao report to the police station.
20. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Xinhua and Ms. Bi Keying Harassed
Ms. Song Xinhua from Weihai City was harassed by officers from the local police station and neighborhood committee personnel on the morning of July 3, 2020. They tried to forced her to sign a guarantee statement to stop practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Song refused.
